January 22 Reflections

January 22 Reflections

Thanks everyone for coming out this past Saturday!  We had a killer jam with a lot of musicians in attendance.  We are now operating using a slightly different set list.  I would like everyone to contact me the week before the jam so we can discuss the songs you would like to play and the time you want to play.  Musicians play according to the set list therefore musicians who show up,  and are not on the set list, will have to wait to play toward the end of the jam… if their is time.  The set list is a major part of our organization during the jam.  Everyone needs to make sure they know when they are playing and have their guitar tuned, plugged in to an amp, and ready to perform.  We have a lot of musician who want to play and we are spending a lot of time getting people set up to jam.  I invite those seasoned jammers help each other get set up to jam.  Also, remember to check the set lists I’ve posted to the Dragon Jamz Web Page.  The jamz/songs played will be very similar each Dragon Jamz Session.  This is very deliberate!  I want musicians to collaborate with each other and jam on each other’s songs.  Many students have a difficult time learning a song from beginning to end and many also don’t have a lot of practice  jamming with a band.  Dragon Jamz offers both of these possibilities.  So lets rock out and do it together!

RCD Jam Reflections

RCD Jam Reflections

We had a wonderful turn out today at the Roasted Coffee Depot.  We had about 20 musicians perform and over 50 people in attendance.  We started off with a few original songs written by David, Dragon and Jamie.  We then got to hear from Richard, Jake and Blake playing and singing some heart-felt tunes.  Next, Alex on drums and Joseph on guitar sat in with the band to play No woman No cry.  Connor and Michael offered blistering solos while playing Voodoo Chile.  We also had a chance to hear from Nate on the drums backing up Jamie as he ripped a solo.

Kimberly and Zack Attack offered a killer version of Knocking on Heavens Door with Zack holding down the solos!  Kimberly then rocked sweet child of mine on the flute.  Katie then stepped up to play shanondoha, blue bells of Scotland, and sang Hotel California.  Following Katie, we heard from Daniel and Wyait who amazed us as Wyait is only 7 years old.  Daniel and Wyait played and sang Dixie Land Delight Along with I’m yours.

Eric stepped up to play the Thrill is Gone with David, Jamie, and Dragon.  After a few rounds of blistering solos Eric then rocked the classic Heart song Alone.  Andrew had a chance to shred over some Ipod jamz playing songs written by Joe Satraini. Saving our charming Mother-Daughter duo for the end, Heather and Hannah charmed us with Jump then Fall and Our song.

Ending with bang Jake came up and rocked the Rover followed by a big jam on Who Knows with Andrew, Michael, David, Jamie, and Dragon rocking away.

Again, special thanks to the Roasted Coffee Depot Crew.
